Buma Toonzetters Award 2008 to Richard Rijnvos

I was delighted to hear that Richard Rijnvos was awarded the Buma Toonzetters Award for his superb NY Concerto. Quoting from the prize website:

Toonzetters is a new event organized by Buma Cultuur, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ and Music Center the Netherlands. During the day, works by composers who have been selected by a professional jury will be presented to the public. In the evening the composer of the best work and the performer(s) who premiered this work will be honoured at a private gala. In an exhaustive selection process with 97 entries, the jury of Toonzetters chose the ten most distinctive compositions of 2007. The selected composers are André Arends, Willem Jeths, Hanna Kulenty, Yannis Kyriakides, Roderik de Man, Carlos Micháns, Piet-Jan van Rossum, Richard Rijnvos and Klas Torstensson.

His work, together with other nominated works, will be performed on the 31st of August in the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.
